Project Description
Blue Spruce Properties Ltd secured the site known as; Mendip View in Axbridge on behalf of a Registered Provider after successfully bidding for the site. The site had the benefit of an Outline Planning Permission which involved the demolition of an existing dwelling and the erection of 20 No. proposed dwellings.
A Reserved Matters Application was validated by Sedgemoor District Council in December 2019 with approval of the scheme being granted in June 2020. The proposal included; 8 No. Two Bedroom houses; 10 No. Three Bedroom Houses and; 2 No. Four Bedroom Houses for affordable rent and shared ownership.
The project was an architect-led scheme from inception through to detailed planning with a strong focus on sustainability. In particular, key sustainable features include; the Wondrwall – smart home system; PV Panels and battery storage as well as; the provision of 1 No. fruit / edible tree per household. The construction of the development is now complete and has been nominated for the following awards:
– Best Shared Ownership category for Inside Housing Development Awards
– Sustainable Project of the Year category for South West Property Awards (Winner)
This case study demonstrates our ability to secure residential development sites with the benefit of a planning permission and deliver a quick permission with regards to Reserved Matters planning applications.
